Christmas is Coming!

It's the run up to Christmas and all through the house, EVERYONE WAS PANICKING. This time of year is great, everything just seems that little bit more magical and people seem to be so much happier. And though it's all to easy to get caught up in the mayhem and madness, there's so much fun to be had that it all balances out in the end.

We LOVE Christmas and so we thought of a couple of top tips and ideas for how to have the BEST CHRISTMAS EVER
(more or less)

1. Visit a Christmas market. Or attend an event where the Christmas lights are switched on. Whether that's just the people in the street or you go to a city to watch it happen, there's something special about all watching the lights sparkle. Markets are great to grab a delicious treat or maybe even find that perfect unique present for a special someone. You can find a list of Christmas markets in the UK here!

2. Make someone smile. The festive season is all about doing good for others, celebrating peace and love and remembering what is really important in life. You could donate to your local homeless shelter or serve in a soup kitchen, or why not send a letter to a poorly child? Post Pals is a charity dedicated to making seriously ill children and their siblings smile with cards and letters! All you have to do is check out their website, write a card, maybe draw a little cartoon or include a little gift and send it off to give a poorly child a special smile in time for Christmas.

3. DECORATE DECORATE DECORATE. It's not essential to enjoying Christmas, but for me personally it's waaay up there. I just love to sit in the living room with a cup of hot chocolate, fluffy slippers and the lights twinkling on the Christmas tree. Why not split the cost with your flatmates or if you can't afford one why not create your own using whatever you can find (last year we painted a large triangular box green and stuck tinsel to it- tacky? Yes. Fun? YES). Put on some cheesy Christmas music and have fun decorating together.

4. Spend time with loved ones. Christmas is that one time of year when (after all the panic buying and mayhem) everyone slows down, reflects on the year and just enjoys spending time with one another. If you can't travel to see someone why not watch a Christmas film together over skype with Costa takeaway coffees and mince pies?

Wonder| Lookbook

Despite the freezing cold weather, we both got up at 8 am for this particular photoshoot, because that's how much we both love blogging! #dedication
It's already started snowing here so we can officially say it's Winter! Which means it's time for us to get out those over the knee boots and some cozy cardigans (& coats ofcourse) to warm us up.

The lovely people at Shoezone got in touch with us about their London Fashion Week (LFW) Collection which we absolutely loved! When we saw them we absolutely fell in love and just new we had to have them! Can we just take a moment to appreciate how pretty they look! Maybe not the shoes for climbing over rocks in (as we discovered...) but these shoes are sooo comfortable and surprisingly warm!

It's a bit of a challenge to style over-the-knee boots but since these are platform and stretchy they have a really modern look and are easy to pair up with a casual or a night out outfit. We decided to go for the short skater dress to make the look a bit more fun and added the over the knee boots which really make the look stand out!

Dress: H&M
Cardigan: New Look

QOTD:
What's your go-to WINTER outfit?!

Poll: Do you prefer ankle boots or over the knee boots?
*Tough question, we know!*

Little Lights

As courses get busier and the Christmas season rolls in it's easy to get lost in the stress of it all. Deadlines to meet, people to see, presents to buy, events to attend. It all seems to pile up. And though it's a time of so much fun and joy, it's important to remember not to do too much or you'll find yourself burning out.

So this is our little reminder to you to put your feet up! Make yourself a cup of hot chocolate, wrap up in front of a film and treat yourself!

We'd also like to set you a little challenge! Take a look around you, at your friends and family, colleagues or classmates and think about who could do with a little slice of sunshine. Perhaps they need a coffee, or a meal cooked for them, or just a night in! Be a little light in your community and just think; what can you do to make someone smile this week?

The Fog and the Flowers| Lookbook

November has definitely arrived with thick fog, dark evenings and a very very chilly breeze! It's always a struggle to know what to wear in the winter months, as you're freezing when you leave the house but boiling whenever you're inside! So we thought we'd create a little lookbook inspired by the autumn/winter change.

For this look we went with another muted palette with a black blouse, black over-sized hoodie and floral statement leggings. These leggings are great because they're fun and different without being childish or looking like 'grandma's curtains'. As a little added bonus, they're super comfy to wear and are brilliant with a baggy jumper for a casual day look.

We loooove a good smokey eye and so of course what better for the foggy days and nights of November than this statement look? We used a lot of silver and greys with a bold flicked eyeliner that draws people's attention. The pink lip adds a bit of colour to the look but isn't too overwhelming.

Hair hair hair! To create this we curled the hair a bit, textured it with some hairspray and swept it into a low messy bun. We then teased out a few wisps of hair to frame the face and soften the appearance. This hairstyle is great because it's so versatile, it could look perfect with a pastel dress for a summer day out, but also really suits a casual grungy look.

Blouse: Next
Leggings: Primark
Shoes: Select

This is such an easy way to experiment with the grunge look and perfect for this chilly winter weather!

Questions of the day:

Do you usually go for a Smokey Eye or more of a Natural look?
AND.   Are flowery leggings your kinda thing too?

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation REVIEW!

I've been using this foundation for the past 5 years of life! Pretty long time? I KNOW!
It works so perfectly on my skin, keeps it hydrated and moisturised and it applies really easily, without too much mess!

For my normal everyday make-up routine, this is my go to foundation.
I usually put on one or two layers of foundation depending on how my skin feels; and that leaves a dewy finish that is on-trend right now and perfect for a casual day out.

I use NW20 which fits perfectly with my skin colour! In the past, I struggled to find the best colour that works with my skin, and then I found this one that I really love so our tip would be to have a look around before you choose your foundation!

The foundation also includes SPF 15, which is great since it protects your skin; especially for the rare sunny days in England!

Except, one problem I face with this foundation, that not everyone might be fond of, is the fact that
it doesn't last long on your face.
For my skin, it usually lasts for three to five hours at most, which can be a bit annoying at times.

That pretty much sums up how I feel about it. Am I still using it? Yes I am!

Beauty questions of the day:

What type of foundation do you use?
Have you ever used this mac one? What did you think of it?

Hope you enjoyed this post, let us know your thoughts below!

Lily Charmed- Stag Necklace Review

A little while back the lovely Jessica from Lily Charmed contacted us and asked us if we'd like to review one of their pieces of jewellery! After taking a tour through all of their jewellery and much debating (and sending links to our mum's for a second opinion) we chose the beautiful Sterling Silver Stag Necklace!

This necklace is made of sterling silver and can have a polished or matt satin finish, which is a beautiful quality and really has a wow factor. We love how different the necklace is from the ones you'd usually find! It definitely adds a glow to our outfits.

The price is good for such high quality jewellery and they have such a great range of on-trend and kitsch pieces- there is something for everyone to love. Even though some of the pieces are a little pricey, there are plenty of affordable necklaces, to treat yourself or a loved one with.

The necklace is about 3cm by 1cm in size, which we didn't really notice when we ordered it so we were a little surprised when it arrived as it's a little small. But at the same time, the size makes it look more elegant, which is perfect for adding a personal touch to a smart outfit, particularly for an evening out. It's cute and classy and really gets compliments!

The packaging is so pretty! It's a simple white box with a blue ribbon wrapped around and inside the necklace rested in a card of white on blue which made it really stand out. It makes you feel a little bit special and would be absolutely perfect if you were sending this as a gift to someone!

We absolutely love our stag necklace. It's gorgeous and adds something special to what would be a normal outfit. We think this could easily be worn with any every-day outfit to spice things up or even for a night out!

We decided to create a little woodland-inspired lookbook to showcase it for you all!

ALSO! We've got a little surprise for all of you!
If you really like this necklace and want to buy something like it for CHRISTMAS!
Then you can type in the discount code 'EMBRACE' which will give you up to 10% off until December 15th, 2015!

Beauty questions of the day:

Which of their range of jewellery would you buy?
Are you more a necklace or bracelet kind of person?
PS. We also loved the custard cream charms!

Autumn Bricks| Lookbook

There's a chill in the air and coursework deadlines are looming! It's time to get our study on and so we've gone for a simple hipster style outfit, perfect for a day of lectures.

For this look we chose very muted tones (to suit the deep grey clouds at the moment!) that will draw the heat and keep a little warmer during the chilly days! You really can't go wrong with a dark outfit like this, it's really easy, especially if you're in a rush and running late for class!

The make up is simple, with a light cover of foundation, blusher and lipstick to add a bit of colour to a cold face! For the eyes we went with a little eyeliner, just on the top lid and a sweep of mascara on both lashes to make the eyes look wider and more alert (which they never are in a 9 am seminar).

Short hair can be difficult to work with but we wanted to show that you can still have fun with it! We divided the hair into a centre parting and did a Dutch braid on both sides. It's cute and great for keeping hair back on a windy day and leaves the hair really wavy afterwards!

Jumper: Primark
Shoes: Select
Ring: LucyQ

This is such an easy look, comfortable and smart and so perfect for a day studying in the library or sitting in lectures.

Questions of the day:
What are you loving at the moment?
What nail colour is your go-to for Autumn?
